So today, we celebrate the women of O’Brien® as part of 2023 International Women’s Day (IWD) with a calendar of activities over the coming months.
This year’s IWD theme is #embraceequity, with the aim to get the world talking about why “equal opportunities are no longer enough”.
At O’Brien®, we believe equity isn’t just a ‘nice to have’ – it’s a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be a part of every society’s DNA, and as a company, we’re working towards making it a part of ours.
To celebrate #IWD2023, we’re very excited to be hosting a virtual event at our dedicated Women of O’Brien® Quarterly Forum, where we will profile the careers of three amazing and highly passionate female leaders from different areas of our business – one from our marketing team, one an Executive Assistant and another who runs one of our largest frontline branches. This is an opportunity for everyone at O’Brien® to engage with, connect to, learn from and be inspired by some of our outstanding female leaders as they share their stories and their own career pathways.
In keeping with our commitment to equity, one of the key initiatives we implemented recently was featuring our very own female Technicians in our TV and Radio recruitment advertising – showing that, in our industry, everybody has a place. Now, we’re proud to announce that in the last year, the number of female Technicians within our Automotive division has grown by 131% (from 16 to 37) – with many of our trainees telling us they chose to join O’Brien® after seeing these ads.
At O’Brien®, we know that a diverse and inclusive workforce is a strength that enables us to serve our customers and communities better, attract top talent and innovate successfully. So, as we look towards the future, we’re excited to see what other innovative ideas come from our upcoming Women’s Quarterly Forum, as well as our other female-driven initiatives.
Most importantly, though, we’re excited to have more women join our team.
